ACTS MA Programme

ACTS MA PROGRAMME

The ACTS MA programme offers a unique theory-practice approach to learning conflict transformations as students are exposed to academic theories, research methodologies, and up-to-date analysis of conflicts in the Asia Pacific region. Through a combination of in-person residential seminars and online sessions, students will critically reflect on their own peace practices while sharing lessons and building networks among one another. The students are each other’s resources. Throughout their ACTS journey, students follow the Action Research methodology that has an emphasis on the action and self-reflection cycle and the spirit of inquiry at its core. The process of learning creates a transformative space for student’s personal growth and confidence and translates to their work in the organization.

ACTS APPLICATION INFORMATION

The two-year ACTS Masters Program is thoughtfully crafted for peace practitioners from diverse sectors, including civil society and faith-based networks, educators, government and non-government, military and nonstate groups, and businesses throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

The 2025 ACTS program is uniquely designed to provide a balanced learning experience, blending in-person and online formats across six (6) comprehensive modules. Four (4) of these modules will be immersive residential seminars, offering a distinctive opportunity for students to deeply engage in intensive learning and dynamic interaction with peers and instructors. Two (2) modules are completely online, providing flexibility and accommodating the diverse schedules of our students, while ensuring rigorous engagement through online sessions and offline tasks.

This program is not just about theory. It’s about putting theory into practice. We place a strong emphasis on practical skills in peacebuilding and conflict transformation. Students will engage in reflective practices, advance their conflict intervention techniques, and work on developing strategies that directly apply to their personal and professional lives. This focus on practical skills ensures that our students are not just knowledgeable, but also competent in their field. Additionally, the program includes specialized Action Research, allowing students to focus on areas of peacebuilding and conflict transformation that are most relevant to their work and the needs of their organizations.

The program is scheduled to begin in February 2025, offering a comprehensive learning experience designed to balance both in-person and online instruction. The course will commence with two intensive residential seminars, each lasting two weeks, which will be held in February and November. Between these sessions, students will engage in online classes, allowing them to continue their studies and stay connected with course materials and instructors from anywhere in the world. This blended approach ensures that students benefit from both in-person interaction and the flexibility of online learning.

The course fee is $2,500 USD per year, not including the costs of residential seminars (airfare, accommodation). A limited number of scholarships are available to help make this opportunity more accessible, with preference given to those who can secure partial funding independently. A $500 contribution towards the overall costs is required to confirm your place in the program, ensuring you can begin this valuable experience and embark on this transformative journey.

The ACTS MA Program is a mark of quality, being fully accredited with Paññãsãstra University of Cambodia (PUC).
