Rachel Gasser is a Peacebuilder-in-residence at the Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies (CPCS).
Rachel has been supporting peace processes for the past 15 years including in Iraq, Libya, Myanmar, Somalia and Syria. Her main responsibilities have been advising and training parties to conflict, supporting third party mediation both at local and international levels and conducting applied research on issues related to peace and security.
Rachel worked with the UN (UNHCR and UNDPA) & the Swiss Foreign Ministry as well as with international and local NGOs & think tanks. From 2011-2018, Rachel was with the Swisspeace Mediation Program in different roles including as the Program Deputy Head.
Rachel is also part of the Athena Consortium Talent Pool and sits on the Board of Mubaderoon Network (Syria). She studied at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva and at UC Berkeley. She has a MA in International Relations, and has completed executive programmes at Harvard Kennedy School & HEC/Geneva. She speaks French, English and German.
